THIS IS THE FIRST OF SEVERAL BOOKS WRITTEN BY THIS AUTHOR WHICH IS HISTORICAL FICTION BUT UNLIKE MOST BOOKS OF THIS GENRE THIS AUTHOR CREATES FAMILIES AND TRACES THEM THROUGH A CERTAIN AREA OF HISTORY HE HAS RESEARCHED. i HAVE READ THEM ALL AND FIND HIM AMAZING. THESE BOOKS MAKE WONDERFUL GIFTS FOR SOMEONE WHO REALLY ENJOYS HISTORY AND READING.

Full of historical information!
This is one of those rare books that gives you information without you knowing. While reading this book I would stop and look up things mentioned on-line and learned so much about Europe. Great way to figure out who or what you may want to read about in the future is to read this book now.

FAVOURITE
This is my all time favourite book. I must reread it. Reminds me of "Pillars of the Earth".

A unique epic book
Takes reader from prehistoric days and ends in WW II. Interlinks characters to their decendants using various traits and physical features. Can drag at times but seems to pick up as you read on. The jist of the continuing story is the building of the "Cathederal". Gives accurate historical facts while intermixing fictional characters with actual events in England. My only complaint is Rutherfurd seemed to rush the end when book got to the 20th century. Perhaps he was afraid the book would be too long to sell commercially. I highly recommend this author and his other books.

easy history
The portion of this study of ancient Britain is
so interesting one could hardly put down the book. I first read this many years ago and subsequently have purchased many copies for relatives and friends interested in this genre.
