Interesting history of Rome from ancient times right up to the Renaissance. Spine faded with small tears at top&bottom. Front cover gilt a bit rubbed and few small holes; rear cover somewhat soiled; wearing through at corners. Top edges gilt. A little shaky but sound. Pages naturally yellowed.
Very Good. Book A beautifully illustrated exploration into the people, sights and history of Rome, from ancient times up to the Renaissance. Withvarious coloured plates, some of which are foldingand numerous illustrations throughout the text by Aubrey Waterfield. Condition: In original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, boards are rubbed with somefading to the spine and rear board. Internally, generally firmly bound, bright and generally clean, with only the odd light spot. Previous owner's ink stamp to the front free endpaper and remains of pasted in newspaper article. Overall: VERY GOOD.

Red binding faded to a lighter red at spine & edges of plain rear. Very ornate bright gilt foliage decoration & titles to front, the same to spine but a little dulled to spine. Wear with creases to spine-ends with small splits to top spine-end. Some wear to boards' corners which are a little curled, light wear with slight lightening to edges. Small chip to rear outer hinge. Light foxing to end-papers with light browning to first & last page & half-title page. Page-edges yellowed. Text has a light wave. Outstanding colour & B&W plates & drawings within text. Text is very celan & sound & in nice condition.
Ills: Aubrey Waterfield. 402pp, 84 plates ((51 coloured), 1 fldg. ), 4to 1904. Rear board a little dust-marked, two small library stamps on front end-paper, else VG. No. 68 of an edition of 150 numbered copies. Elaborate gilt decorated spine and front cover.
