Can an erotic short story be written in 1,000 words or less? Answer: Yes, but the pants have to come down quickly, and there can't be much foreplay. The short-story-twist at the end comes all the more suddenly, and may be forced and unlikely. Such is the case with my favorite story in this collection, "Gourmet's Heaven." Wonderfully European in ethos, unlike other short stories you have read, and totally believable, except for the last sentence. Remove that and it works. Some sometimes a short story is even better if it's trimmed just a tad.
