Ann Chambers Noble was asked to commemorate the town's 100th birthday in 2004, and as is stated on the dust jacket, "The timing was critical. Pinedale was losing many of its 'old timers' who carried the local history only in their heads. Furthermore, the town in 2004 was in great transition: natural gas exploration and extraction was booming; and more recreationists and retirees were arriving than ever before. The rapidly receding 'good 'ol days' had to be captured, if only in print."
