I recently started reading the Mrs Jeffries series of books written by Emily Brightwell. They are wonderful. Set in Victorian England, they follow the career of Scotland Yard Inspector Witherspoon & the people who work for him in his home. Mrs Jeffries is in charge - she's his housekeeper. They help the inspector solve murders he is investigating - of course the inspector doesn't know what they do. It's Mrs Jeffries role to feed him the information they have found out without letting him know what they have been up to. The book is just as good a read as the other ones I have read. I highly recommend this book & all the books in the series.
