I loved Philbrick's In the Heart of the Sea, and read a lot of history titles. This one is nearly as captivating as In the Heart of the Sea. I couldn't put it down.
Though I taught U.S. History and government in high school for 10 years (many years ago) ... this opened new insights for me on the complexity of the pilgrim, Mayflower, Puritan, New England, New England Native American stories and founding myths. Wow!
I highly recommend this book. Worth the 380 pages. Taken from letters, military records, memoirs, archeological evidence, etc.
I hope it's available in every high school library and history teacher's shelves!
