Very good in fair dust jacket. Stated First Edition on the back of the Title Page. The 1970 date is on the front of the Title Page. Covers are white background with the blue Fleu-de-lys design. The Square on the front cover & the spine containing the Book name & other info are both blue (not red). Covers slightly yellowed but with still sharp corners. The Text is still snug to the binding and is clean throughout. 555 pages with an index of 61 pages! The Dust jacket did its duty protecting the book. I enjoyed this book very much. The instructions and teaching that this book gives are excellent. With that said, it is not my favorite cookbook: the recipes are somewhat complicated. I highly recommend this book for the serious chef ( or the not so serious chef who wants to learn more about gourmet cooking)
