Good. xiv pages, 2 leaves, 3-308 pages frontispiece, plates, portraits 25 cm. Blue cloth. Spine faded. Hardcover. No dust jacket. Good binding and cover. Clean, unmarked pages. Signed, Emerson Wirt Axe (noted Mutual Fund manager, see his obit, quite remarkable. )
Good. The color is worn from much of the edges. Tiny hole in cloth on bottom edge of front cover, and cloth is worn through in small areas on bottom of spine. The spine is very faded and most of the gold is worn from the lettering, which, however, is readily legible. Minor soil on the front cover, moderate soil on the back cover. Binding is sound, with repaired back hinge. Price marked in ink on ffep. Light foxing of frontispiece's margins and the title page, which faces the frontispiece. Very light foxing of margins of other illustrations, else contents are clean. These faults sound numerous, but they are all cosmetic-the book is complete and sound. No dust jacket.; Purple coth, gold lettering. Portrait frontispiece. Index. 7p b/w ills. BIOGRAPHY. Marlborough's talents were numerous; but his genius was confined to the military; he was one of the greatest generals of all history. He was also a good business man for he started with nothing and died the richest man in three kingdoms. If you look at Jack Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, from different angles, you find different men. He was many persons in one and a life which started in the days of Oliver Cromwell, extended through the whole Restoration period, embraced the Revolution of 1688, the War of the Spanish Succession, and the entire reignt of Queen Anne, and ended only after the Hanoverians had setled upon the throne of Great Britain and Ireland-this life gave him ample opportunity to display each of those persons.; 9-1/2" Tall; 308 pages.
