Before the Media age, a horse showed up on America's racetracks that destroyed all comers. Man O' War became larger than life, he became a legend. Only Secretariat has gained such prominence. This book is a wonderful review of the life, times and personalities that made up the Legend Like Lightning. It's unfortunate the horse racing in America has fallen so low, but one horse can still capture the imagination. Even if you don't like horse racing this story is captivating as a study of American sporting life in the first two decades of the 20th century. If you enjoyed the book Seabiscuit you will enjoy this one, too.

Terrific book
A well-paced account of the history around the life of this magnificent animal. Hard to put down if you love horses.
