On MCMLXXXV (1985), Rufio culls a lot of traits from groups such as blink-182 and Jimmy Eat World, especially on the melodic yet frantic "Countdown." Although lead singer Scott Sellers has a strong voice, it works well in tandem with the tight arrangements. "White Lights" is slower in tempo, but the guitars of Sellers and Clark Domae have the distinct "emo punk" feeling.
