Good. No Dj. Softcover, octavo. VG in green pictorial wraps. Nin started her celebrated diary at the age of eleven, when she was emigrating to NY with her mother and two young brothers. It be came her confidant, her beloved friend, giving a charming and amusing view of her early life. An innocent girl is transformed into an enlightened woman. Translated from the French by Jean Sherman. Preface by Joaquin Nin-Culmell.
It was thrilling to see the beginnings of what would later become classic literary diaries. I was consistently stunned by the level of sensitivity and awareness that Miss Nin displayed at so young an age as when she began these diaries (eleven). It was lovely to follow her daily rituals in NYC; her descriptions were as vivid then as they were when she was older. The overall work, like most diaries, gives an accurate account of the era in which she lived . . . beautiful work!
