TRAVEL. " The main reason for writing this book is to record some of the customs, the former way of life, the foods, and entertainments of the Lebanese people. Many of these folkways are gone forever, recorded only in the memories of the older generation. The new look of Lebanon-of unveiled women, powerful automobiles, co-education, western dress, movies, lavish villas and luxurious modern apartments-contrasts sharply with the simple way of life which prevailed in the country about 50 years ago. Lebanon is a free country and a proud republic. Its people are free to think and to worship as they please, and to elect their own govenment. Churches, cathedrals, mosques and synagogues stand side by side. " Tipped-in full-color frontispiece. Four pages of music. 26p b/w photos, 2p color photos.; 9-1/4" Tall; 166 pages.
