A very good, clean, neat hard cover first edition with minor shelf wear and rubbing at the corners BUT foxing stains to the exterior cloth, hinges binding solid, paper lightly yellowed, previous owner's name on front endpaper. A good book for young Dickens fans, perhaps, but too coy for the average adult. The author uses so many references to Dickens' characters that you'd better be an expert if you want to follow them all. I have read every Dickens novel, but can't remember enough of the character names to make this book truly enjoyable. The early chapters, before Dickens became famous, are the best part of the book.
