With 224 pages, illustrated in black and white and sepia. Cover art work by Jasper Johns "Skin with O'Hara Poem 1965". Between 1952 when Frnak O'Hara published his first poems and his death in 1966 at the age of 40, he was already recognized as a quintessential American poet whose vernacular poetry beautifully told the urban life of his generation. As a poet, he spent many years working at the Museum of Modern Art, eventually becoming an associate curator. This handsome volume published by the Museum in 1967 to honor its late curator was edited by the poet and friend Bill Berkson, who invited 30 artists who had known O'Hara ranging from de Kooning to Joan Mitchell and many others to produce works to accompany his poems. This was first issued in a limited issue and has now been reissued by the Museum in a conventionally bound edition with its newly designed paper jacket, and in every other way this is an exact facsimile of the 1967 edition. As new and bright light boards in like dynamic dustjacket with crisp bright text throughout. Profusely illustrated with the art work and his poems.
