Two contemporary works, by Gabriel Jackson and James MacMillan, frame a group of Renaissance standards that are beautifully sung throughout. There are settings of the "By the rivers of Babylon," Stabat mater, and Ave Maria texts by Palestrina, and any of these would serve to interest a new listener in Renaissance music.
