8vo. Burgundy paper over boards, pictorial dust jacket. 456pp. Very good/very good. Jacket edgeworn, with a few tiny edge chips, but still bright and attractive. Just a reprint edition, but tight and nice--and signed large and bold by Stone in black ink on the front flyleaf. Jacket is actually a Doubleday jacket, not the Sun Dial Press's reprint jacket. Jessie Benton Fremont (1824-1902) was the famed daughter of noted Missouri senator and statesman Thomas Hart Benton and wife of explorer and politician John C. Fremont.
