Author has signed and inscribed this copy to a family descended from one of the river boatmen mentioned in the book. That descendant has also written a note and done a bit of underlining on the page which describes her ancestor. Other than that, the pages are completely clean and unmarked. A 16 page "Supplement to the First Edition" which provides more photographs and memories of the locks in the early 1900's is laid in. The jacket is perfect except for a small scrape atop the spine. This is a very respectable copy.
