My mom was very influenced by Edith Schaeffer's writings, and this book was one of her favorites. It is such a simple and beautiful book, written by a woman who practiced what she preached. She encourages her readers to find the beauty already present around them and use everyday objects to create art. From interior decorating to writing, Schaeffer provides simple ways to get started and to boost one's creative spirit. I especially love how her belief that everyone is essentially gifted with creativity shines through in her writing. The book may seem slightly dated as it was written in the 70s, but I believe many of the truths are timeless.
