Occasional marginal note and textual correction in small hand from prev. owner, Princeton Russian scholar Clarence Brown (ownership not stated within); Brown's handwritten notes laid-in. Boards and pages bright and sharp; binding strong and tight. Near Fine in Very Good jacket. Fiction. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. This book is in near fine condition and appears unread. The dust jacket is in very good condition with a closed tear at the bottom edge of the back panel that has a crease. The jacket is not price clipped and is in new mylar. Translated from the Russian by John Glad. This is his second volume of short stories, following Kolyma Tales.
