118pp. Quarto [31 cm] Dark red cloth over boards with a silver stamped title on the spine. Very good. Lightly rubbed at the spine ends and along the edges of the covers. There is a large sticker stain on the front free endsheet. In a very good dust jacket, with heavy surface rubbing. George Fiske was Yosemite's first resident photographer. This book presents views, mainly from the 1870s and 1880s, representing a selection of his work in both Yosemite and Big Trees, where Fiske was able to pursue the transitory as well as the monumental aspects of the park. He returned season after season to specific viewpoints, or followed with his camera the movement of a storm or sunset, recording the drama of Yosemite like no other photographer.
