Bound in color pictorial stiff paper cover which is bright and clean, lightly edgeworn-a short closed tear to thumb edge of front cover, a couple of tiny creases and light rubbing to corners. Spine is uncreased and binding is strong and intact. Color reproductions of the lithographs produced by the renowned German printshop, L. Very Good in Good + jacket. Hardcover in dust jacket. First printing of first Dover edition, a republication of a portfolio of hand-tinted plates by three young artists originally published in 1830 under the title Das Preussische Heer. Book is crisp and clean, with a whisper of rippling to some pages and light water stain at edges of early pages (plates are untouched). Unclipped dust jacket has a remnant rim of white tape along top and bottom edges and damp stain on reverse side. (There is no smell. ) Handsome full-page color plates throughout show guards, grenadiers, hussars, jagers, dragoons, uhlans, cuirrasiers, janizaries, sharpshooters, and bombardiers.
