I got this book at the end of a rather bitter December (weatherwise, that is!), and everything about this book cheered me. It's full of delicious recipes (as always, with Nigella), bright sunny pictures, and funny, unapologetic prose. Even if you never make a thing, it's a tonic for winter blues. But please, please make something - Strawberry Meringue Cake, any of the pastas, Happiness Soup, Raspberry Ice Cream, you name it, they will make you, in Nigella's words, "skip with summeriness". It's especially nice bedtime reading in the winter, but make something any time of year for an instant muskoka-chair frame of mind.
