This anthology collects some of John Dickson Carr's finest short stories which are sure to please any fan of classic mysteries. It contains all five short works featuring his most famous detective, Dr. Gideon Fell, faced with impossible cases such as a man found beaten in a locked room and a woman strangled on the beach with no footprints in the sand but her own. The pacing is superb, and the solutions will astound. Also included are a collection of historical pieces, including Carr's famous "The Gentleman from Paris." And, as a real treat, the novella "The Third Bullet" is present in its full, unabridged form. Every story in this book is excellent.
