I enjoyed reading it. I loved the setting and although I didn't immediately love any of the characters, I did grow to like them more and more as the book progressed. I take it back ? I love our nerdy knight in armor who shows up toward the end. I read it quickly, but when it was done it was done. Nothing stuck to my ribs.

Despite many mediocre reviews on this book I found myself quite liking it. In fact, I discovered I was making time just to get back to reading it. Was the writing fantastic? Probably not but it was enough for me to hang in there and I love to read about this era, loved the setting, and grew fond of the characters. I found the story of the three women trying to find security/stability/purpose endearing and once again I realize how lucky women are today and what few choices/rights we've had historically--forget the glass ceiling, there wasn't even a ceiling to aspire to, that is if you were lucky enough to even get in the door. While I would definitely put this in the category of "chick lit" I think it might be on a little bit different level. I recommend it as a good summer, vacation, or beach read.
