Very Good. Publisher's cloth-bound hardback; sometime neatly re-backed preserving original covers, spine and end-leaves; darkened and toned, nonetheless holding well, firm and square, no cracks. Contents foxed and browned, otherwise sound with no pen-marks, no looseness and not from a library so no such stamps or labels. Size: 190mm x 135mm; collation: pp. 188 and 4 pages of adverts at the rear. A personal account of antebellum Louisiana and Texas, covering slavery, the treatment of Indians, and Mexican folklore, etc. Thus a decent enough copy in satisfactory condition for a sensible price. Scarce. [Bibliographic References: Howes 251; Graff 2873; Clark III, 366].
