Listen to Debi Pearl's best-selling book as read by her daughter, Rebekah Joy Anast, and son, Nathan Pearl. Somewhere over the passing years and changing culture, women have lost their way. This book is written to lead them back home. Regardless of how you began your marriage, or how dark and lonely the path that has brought you to where you are now, you should know that it is possible to have a marriage so good and so fulfilling that it can only be explained as a miracle. What God has done through this book is amazing. We are receiving thousands of letters and e-mails from people giving testimony to marriages restored and made new. Pastors, bookstores, and teachers are ordering and reordering cases. The book now has a new cover and contains a word index at the back of the book to aid you in topical searches.
This book shows exactly how a man/woman relationship should be according to the Bible. This book is extremely helpful and very literal and blunt in areas. Those who are offended by this book should seriously reconsider and look deeper into their marriage--perhaps they do not want to give in and surrender their rights. If this book were the guideline of every marriage, this country would soon see a wonderful change. Women would act like women, and men would act like men, and the family would be stronger than ever. Great job Mrs. Pearl, and keep it up!

Congruent with God's Word
This book was difficult to swallow but as I was reading it I prayed for God to show me its truth. The ideas seem old fashioned for this day and age but God's purpose for women and men have never changed. Our world is out of step with the Bible and a marriage based on God's purpose really works. My marriage gets better every year and I believe that God blesses it because I try to be a biblical wife. That is, a helper to my husband. In return, I find that my husband treats me better and loves me more all the time and he isn't even a believer! It really works but it takes a lot of initial sacrifice from you before you can see the results. The testimonies in the book are good examples.

Yes, With reservations
This book can be a good tool from the perspective of the wife who is seeking to take responsiblilty for her part to be a better wife dealing with her husband's specific and perhaps hard to deal with temperment. The caution is that it has sort of a legalistic bent, and a wife would need to be careful to take it as helpful for self attitudes, pray for grace and as a Christian book, to use in the strength of the Lord ,and not fall under condemnation...I found it pretty rough on the woman in its perspective. Worth looking at if you are in a situation where you just don't understand your man's responses, and need some perspective for self examination. I wouldn't use it as a "how to", if you tend to think in formulas.

Thorough and Personal
Some will think Mrs. Pearl's views are extreme, but she documents here viewpoints with Scripture. That is her intention, to give Biblical help to wives...and she accomplishes that goal for those who will read and follow her counsel.

I wanted to throw this book out the window MANY times while reading it; however, I had to stop and ask myself why I was so angry. The answer: it sometimes hurts to hear the truth! As Christians, are we supposed to ultimately follow God's Word or our culture's ever-changing opinion? It's a no-brainer. SO...I asked God to help me WANT to obey His word, which is what this book's entire concept is based upon. Take courage, wives! God will help you obey Him: you don't have to lean on your own understanding. Believe me when I say it's SUCH a joyful life to obey God!
