I bought several copies of this book because I now have grandchildren and my children were asking for copies of this book. This book was one of their very best childhood favorites. We can't seem to read it enough.

Brings back great memories
I was so happy to find this book from my childhood. I cannot believe what great condition it is in. I enjoyed reading this book to my daughters. Hopefully one day I can read it to my grandchildren. This book will be treasured.

Delightful story
Grandma Tildy is a kind, sweet lady who has a lot of work to do. With help from the pets she buys she gets the work done. Grandma Tildy has a wonderful home that any pet would enjoy becoming a part of. Her kindness is stretched even further when she finally agrees to take in the elephant. The end of the story is just as sweet.

Delightful
The grandmother tries so hard to avoid buying an elephant. She buys all the pets from a traveling petshop insisting all the while she will never buy an elephant. Pity gets the best of her when the pet shop man moves away leaving the elephant in the cold. At first she regrets her choice to let the elephant stay since he eats all the food in the house. In the end the elephant reward her for her kindness by moving the house elsewhere. I loved the character change in the grandmother character. She is drawn somewhat grouchy, but as seen in her actions to be very nice. She knows the elephant will eat everything in her house, yet she cannot leave him outside to freeze. This is an entertaining tale of compassion.
