The book is oversized (8.5 by 11.5 inches) and contains 70 full-page photographs of these amazing painting, 23 of them in color. There is a Preface by Arthur Waley, an Introduction, a History of Tun-Huang, and a 13-page article on Buddhist Painting in Central Asia and Its Influence at Tun-Huang. Notes on the Plates precede the the 70 glossy plates, and the book also includes an Bibliography and an Index.
