Fine. 1561009881. IS NEW shrink-wrapped ~factory. Mail SAMEDAY You click Mediamail, I upgrade to 1st Class! ; 7.25 x 0.50 x 4.25; 2 pages; Michael Connelly has been attracting fans by the droves with his hard-boiled, edgy thrillers. A former crime reporter for the Los Angeles Times, Connelly combines a poet's ear for language with a deep understanding of the criminal mind to create dark, dramatic stories that raise the thriller genre to a new level. Connelly introduces a new character, Terry McCaleb, who was a top man at the FBI until a heart ailment forced his early retirement. Now he lives a quiet life, nursing his new heart and restoring the boat on which he lives in Los Angeles Harbor. Although he isn't looking for any excitement, when Graciela Rivers asks him to investigate her sister Gloria's death, her story hooks him immediately: the new heart beating in McCaleb's chest is Gloria's. As McCaleb investigates the evidence in the case, the suspected randomness of the crime gives way to an unsettling suspicion of a twisted intell.

And I'm an Eastwood fan, in spite of his ridiculous display at the RNC. He did a good job in this movie but the movie didn't begin to match the book in quality or length nor in depth. The characters were more fleshed out, the plot longer and deeper and some of the characters are carried along in additional books. It's Connelly; you know it's going to be a good read.

What a compelling, well-developed character, and what a fascinating plot! I was transfixed by this novel, which is definitely one of Connelly's best. His take on organ transplantation is fresh and even - at a stretch - believable. Don't watch the movie; while a competent thriller, it is a travesty of the novel.

I thought this was a great book. It has an amazing ending that is helped along throughout the book by this author's ability to keep you intrigued and wanting to know more. If you have a chance to read this, I recommend it.

A great idea for an original crime novel. Blood Work is a suspenseful tightly woven story that leaves you guessing at each twist. Having had a transplant surgery myself I was drawn to this book by the idea of mystery surrounding the donor and circumstances around her death. But this book is a good read with a personal connection to it or not. A really unexpected endind adds to the excitement.
