Of the various Bach cantata cycles in process, the one by John Eliot Gardiner and his Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists stands out for its distinctive method: the recordings are associated with live concerts (a backup recording was made from the final rehearsal) undertaken around the time of the millennium celebrations.
