This book is one of a handful of "must-have's" for dedicated bibliophiles. Joseph Blumenthal was both scholar and printer, and personally knew most of the greater printers of the 'golden age' of modern fine book printing, circa 1896 - 1950. This volume is fairly large and substantial, with very nice reproductions of fine printing examples. The body text is beautifully printed in letterpress Baskerville type, with Blumenthal's characteristically elegant typography. The only downside: this beautiful book starkly highlights the relentless mediocrity of modern offset printing.
