Usually non-linear books are a rich change from the usual path of 'A - Z', but this one could be a trifle too erratic for some. Yet Mai Zetterling has a story to tell that is absorbing - from a seedy and uncontrollable adolescence to stardom in England and lovers such as Herbert Lom, Peter Finch and Tyrone Power. In later years, she becomes a creditable director and maker of films, and has obviously come to terms with life.
Her choices were often perplexing - many abortions, wasted time in 'going-nowhere' love affairs, and large houses in France needing constant work and suggesting a great deal of discomfort. She is an accomplished writer, but notwithstanding her confidences, her tone remains somewhat removed.
Nevertheless, if you have an interest in the screen, this book will have value.
