Barley brings the hidden side of ethnographic field work out into the wide open kicking and yelling. This satirical reflection piece on his actual life experiences in the field was enjoyable as well as insightful to the unknown/unexpected perils and joys that come with cultural field studies. I have recommended this book so several of my peers and insist that it is a must read for any anthropologist, untried first timers to the seasoned veteran.
