Very Good. Philadelphia, 1819. 8vo, original paper-covered boards, xvi, -280 pp. A particularly well preserved copy in the original publisher binding, with uncut pages. Normal tanning to pages, endpapers lightly foxed, some flaking to spine (including rubbing and chipping to title label). Contemporary excerpt of a text on cotton production affixed to front pastedown. Remains in excellent condition overall. An important title, notable for its content (essays on manufacturing, written almost entirely by Mathew Carey) and also for its production from paper made at the Gilpin mill. Sabin 62041, Shaw and Shoemaker 49094.
