Audience: General/trade. The author of the bestselling "Amazing Grace" demystifies a spiritual concept, exploring acedia--or soul-weariness--through her life as a writer; her marriage and the challenges of commitment in the midst of grave illness; and her keen interest in the monastic tradition.
This book so clearly defined acedia - I liked the
quotes at the end of the book. Certainly, sloth
is endemic in our modern world and most
people seem not to be aware of it, at least most of
the people in my community. perhaps the problem is
that there is so little self-awareness. Contentment
with mediocrity is common, as if that defines humility.
