This is a splendid old history of the Methodist Church. It is Vol. IV of IV. The book itself is in very nice shape for 170 years old. The history covers the period 1829-40, a period of great expansion for the church, but also of great contentiouness over the issue of slavery. Four years after the conclusion of this history the slavery issue came to a head, resulting in the severing of the church; an omen of what would happen to the nation less than two decades later. Great original resource. Highly recommended.
