"WiIIa's Books" was conceived in the heart of Willa Robinson, who developed a love for books and reading at a very early age. While working for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 1/2 years, she began collecting books. At first it was christian books because of accepting Jesus as her Savior, then it spilled over into books about blacks, their history, literature and then about anything about black people. After a while she had to many books and her husband wanted to know what she was going to do with them. "WiIIa's Books" was born out of a need for space. In 1994 she started selling her books on 18th and Vine, in Kansas City, Missouri, as a street vendor. The rest is history. "WiIIa's Books" specializes in used and rare African-American books.
