About this title: Leon Rene was the principal figure in running the affiliated Class and Rendezvous labels, who recorded a good amount of early Los Angeles R&B-influenced rock'n'roll in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It's a good bet that just two of the 24 songs on this compilation will be familiar to general rock fans: Bobby Day's classic "Rockin' Robin" and B. Bumble & the Stingers' eccentric instrumental "Nut Rocker," based on a part of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite.
