"This is one of the great sci-fi movies OF ALL TIME! Seriously, The story of Robinson Crusoe is a timeless classic ... alone on a desert island (planet) with nothing but his wits to save him. The original survivor was fighting to find food, water, companionship. The same as we would have on earth. This Crusoe needs a more basic need. He's running out of oxygen. This twist to the old story is inspiring and imaginative. Like the original, the astronaut calls for divine intervention. Wow! Yes, That' dates it. But, his calm shows the strength of faith. Did you ever see Adam West without his Batman tights? Here's your chance! It makes you aware why AW didn't get more acting jobs. (That's sarcasm. Sorrry!) Fortunately, this piece of cardboard is only on screen briefly and aptly replaced by a monkey! I'm sorry it's taken this long for this film to be available in DVD. Another home-run for Criterion. This is a must watch for all fans of literature, cinema, and humanity. God bless us, everyone!"
