An Irish (and American) Classic

by LOUIS L on May 27, 2012

We see something remarkable in this film. We see a movie learning to talk. It starts out awkwardly as it the film-makers (John Ford et al.) were using silent movie techniques to make a talky. But as the story moves along it lives up to its potential and turns into what we recognize as a modern movie. It deserved the acclaim it won. McLaughlin is superb.
