This movie is absorbing in its ability to magnify probably the most important issues of today within a fantasy setting. Special effects are extremely effective. The mind soars with the characters. However, the issues of corporate/military dominance over the future and well-being of humanity does not lie far beneath the surface.

Fanciful, but with genuine emotion throughout. This film had several facets to it: Fantasy, to be sure, but adventure, armed conflict of inspired underdog versus overlord (a la "Rocky"), a slow-building, low-key but tender love story that touches your heart when the Pandoran wife has just rescued her alien (human) husband and it is obvious that genetic differences don't matter between them, despotic villains worthy of the name, sweeping panorama and great special effects (which must appear glorious in 3-D), a plausible plot involving reckless human exploitation of another species, etc. I was skeptical, but eventually "forgot" (overlooked) the color of the Pandorans' skin and wound up rooting for their cause. You won't be disappointed with this movie on either a physical or an emotional level.

  • Well, it's pretty Jul 12, 2010

My favorite part of this movie was the hammerhead-rhinoceri. (That isn't a real word, but it's fun to say.)

The CG work on this movie is breathtaking, but as I watched the movie, I felt sad that the people who worked so hard to make this movie look good had so little to work with. The story is lame and the characters are flat and unbelievable.

All in all, I think it's worth borrowing to see it once.
