"This was a cute book. I liked it, but I think that it was pretty easy to read (which is i guess, why it is the adapted version), and even though the story is very sweet, it was still basically a guy talking about some stuff that happened to his family, himself, and his dog. I like that the author loved his dog so much that he wrote a story about him, but I still dont think its much of a "new idea". Despite this, I think it's pretty good book, especially if you are around the age of 10 and/or a dog lover. Maybe if you are older and happen to be a dog lover and/or very much want to read a Marley story it would be a better idea to try the original version. =)"
"I loved this book it's about this family that is made up of a married couple (the Grogans) and they were starting to wonder if they wanted someone or something to be in the house with them! so they try to find a dog and find one and the woman goes "300.00$ for the girls and 275.00$ for the boys and 'Marley' (aka the special puppy) is 250.00$ so they buy marley soon there after they have a baby boy then move into a new house then have another baby boy then have another baby and its a girl and you'll have to read the rest but i did like the book more than the movie!!!!"

In this book John and his wife don't want kids yet so they decide to get a puppy, Marley. Hey he was the cheapest one! He also adored his new owners! Pretty soon in the story you figure out he has a weak spot LIGHTNING STORMS!!!! he will chew down to the very last bit of your wall to try to escape! THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! 5 ***** to John Grogan the author! Marlee is one of the cutest labs I have ever seen~!!!!!!!!! READ GREAT BOOK!"
"This one was hard for me to rate because I have also read the original story and compared to that, I didn't enjoy this one as much. However, this one was obviously intended to be simpler and because it is aimed at a younger audience and finally a few chapters in I was able to get more into the story and enjoy it as it's own entity. I still got a little teary-eyed at the end and I still found myself laughing out loud in several parts. I read this one out-loud to my daughter and she also really enjoyed it and got a little teary-eyed as well.
I think this is a great story for parents to read with their kids as it gives them a lot to think about with regards to the responsibility of taking care of an animal, how you just never know for sure what you're going to get in terms of personality, and the rewards you enjoy in exchange for the hard work of caring for them. I liked that in this kids version they didn't hide from Marley's old age and the ailments that came with it, and they dealt very honestly and respectfully with his death without going overboard. I think this really got my daughter thinking about her pets and the things she loves about them and what makes each of them special and I think that is a very good thing."
