"I decided to check this out after seeing it in a celebrity gossip rag. I was dubious because I don't tend to give much credence to "fad diets", but this one seems to be different in that most of the stuff it says is good old common sense. The basic principle is that the key to weight loss is to exercise regularly and eat a balanced diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables, protein, good carbs and good fats. He also states that it is important to focus on eating five small meals a day at regular intervals instead of three big ones, because it helps your metabolism work more effectively and keeps blood sugar levels under control (and therefore ensures that your energy level stays where it should be). This makes a lot of sense to me. Of course, the whole "exercise regularly and eat healthy food" thing is nothing new, and I daresay it isn't anything that a person of average intelligence can't figure out on their own. The thing I liked was that in this book, he provides a workout schedule and about 120 recipes which make it easy to implement for someone (like me) who knows what they SHOULD be doing, but is too lazy to sit down and figure out how to do it. I plan on giving it a whirl and seeing if it will finally help me kick those ten or fifteen stubborn "vanity" pounds that have been bugging me for awhile.
I figure even if it doesn't work, I can still be confident that I am eating a healthy diet (something that I definitely don't do now). The only downside I can see right off the bat is that it might be slightly more expensive to buy the foods he recommends (the age old price/quality dilemma of "You can either have this salad for ten dollars or these ten hamburgers for a nickel" as Jim Gaffigan so eloquently puts it). Also, for someone with a tight schedule it might not be so easy to prepare the meals (despite his claims that they only take five minutes to prepare). But we'll see how it goes and I'll update my review accordingly once I have some concrete results."
