"I've read about three Skippyjon Jones books. They're cute, and I think the "Frito Bandito" aspect passes the racism test (could you hand this to a Mexican friend to read without cringing?). But I can't get behind the books' reinforcement of the notion that boys are rambunctious while girls are well behaved. At least give him a well-behaved brother as well, or something.
