"The only thing I didn't like is that it started in America - then backtracks to life before coming to the states, but at the end, finishes before they arrive in the states. It took away from the tension of the plot as to who would or would not survive the bombing and the secret police. Otherwise I could picture all of the characters and sub-characters clearly. I finished the book with a clearer understanding of who the Kurds are and where they live and the challenges they have faced as a group. I enjoyed this book because it was different from the normal YH historical fiction title, and set in a place not normally found in U.S. libraries."
