"Even though this is in a new series called Dream Hunters, it follows stories from Dark Hunters as well. This is the story of a Dream Hunter Arikos who has gone "Skoti" or wild in his realm. He enters the dreams of Megeara who is currently searching for Atlantis, a place no one wants her to uncover. The plot was okay, although I don't like this part of the series as much as the Dark Hunters. I didn't connect as much with the characters, but I did like the ending, which had an interesting take on Persephone and Hades."
"Not crazy about this one. It took me a long time to finish it, because the plot just wasn't very interesting. I didn't care about either of the main characters, Megeara and Arik. The love story between them felt flat and fake, and I really didn't care if they ended up together. It finally got a little bit interesting toward the end, and I credit that to some of the minor characters, like Kat and Solin. This is the first of Kenyon's books that I have read, so maybe some of her other stuf is good. I don't know, but I doubt I'll be rushing out to give her another shot. On a totally different note, I hate the cover. The guy himself isn't bad-looking, but what's up with that freaky hair?! Is it a wig? Is it a bad perm? Did they flip it upside down and tease it? Ugh! While I'm at it, the Don Jonson/Miami Vice stubble doesn't do it for me either."
"As a standalone, this might have been a better book, but with all the references to the other mythology, you needed to be familiar with the series to get into it. Even then, though, I found myself dreading picking the book back up. No, it wasn't because of my hatred of reading from the bad guy POV -- instead, it was just that the story was... well... kind of lame. I was hoping for more tidbits about the side characters or at least to be able to have some sort of big "a-ha!" moment where you put some puzzle pieces together. Instead, I was only really rewarded with a nostalgic scene at the end of the book between Acheron & Nick that made me really sad. From that scene I was able to place this book in the timeline as something of a prequel. Meh, I hope the next few books make up for this one..."
"ok, so i skipped ahead and read spoilers for future books and that is possibly why i enjoyed this one more. it's importance to what is to come kept me riveted to everything.
the story of Geary and Arik had some incredibly light points and some more intense moments. scenes where Arik is experiencing human things like a Moon Pie for the first time is just endearing. after seeing that side of someone how can you not love them? well, offering my soul in exchange for said moon pie may be one of the things that could sway me. of course Geary is a better woman than i and rescues him anyway."
