"This was the first book I bought when I began to study Catholicism, and I did so because I had previously read another book by the author called "Handbook of Christian Apologetics". I expected a reasonable, coherent, and perhaps persuasive presentation of the Catholic faith. However, I was very disappointed to see that Kreeft, a former Protestant, takes a much more condescending tone in this book toward his Protestant brothers and sisters. I found his arguments against Protestantism to be poorly constructed, and at times offensive, and many of his comments about Catholicism in general to be ridiculous (e.g., his idea that God asked Mary for her permission to impregnate her). In short, Kreeft's book is a good example of how (and for what reasons) there can still be a barrier between conservative Catholics and Protestants, but it is not a book I would recommend to any Protestant seeking to understand Catholic faith."
"I decided to read this largely based on the horrific notion that after 16 years in several Catholic institutions, I had forgotten the Act of Contrition. It was interesting to remember how much Latin I had forgotten and to go over everything again from an adult's point of view."
