About this title: Top Mafia hit man. Doting father. For 30 years, Richard 'the Ice Man' Kuklinski led a double life beyond anything ever seen on The Sopranos, becoming one of the most notorious professional assassins in American history while hosting neighbourhood barbecues in suburban New Jersey. Kuklinski was Sammy 'the Bull' Gravano's partner in the killing of Paul Castellano at Sparks Steak House. John Gotti hired him to kill the neighbour who accidentally ran over his child. He was also intimately involved in the killing of Jimmy Hoffa. He conducted this sadistic business with cold-hearted intensity, ...

From Publishers Weekly: This stomach-turning account of the multiple atrocities committed over 43 years by Richard "The Ice Man" Kuklinski--as sadistic a killer as most readers would ever want to encounter in print--seems like more of an as-told-to than an independent journalistic narrative, though Carlo says ... read more
"This is an interesting story in serious need of an editor. Lots of repetition, heaps of trite phrases and the narrative voice keeps changing - sometimes in the same paragraph (from third person reporting to first person opinion. Terribly confusing). There is so much repetition I thought my iPod was stuck on rewind.
The subject is such a frightening person, just telling his story as flat observation might have worked better. After all, 30 years as a prolific, sadistic killer is an eye-popper of a resume all by itself."
"WOW! I can't even begin to explain my enthusiasm in reading this book. I have always heard people say" I love this book, I can't put it down." Well for me this was the first book that really wrapped me up; I remember one time I stayed up until 3:30 A.M. because I couldn't put it down. I don't know, there's something about a person that can pickup a car dealer, bring him to a forest, and then proceed to break his legs, kneecaps, arms, and hands and then after all that is done he decapitates him and takes the head to the contractor who gave him the hit to prove the guy was dead. I disliked however, how he was caught, how they threw his wife to the ground from the car, how they yelled and pointed a gun to his face, how Richard Kuklinsky's "Ally" set him up in the first place, that was aggravating. Perhaps my favorite part is when he picks up a big hit and the mark had raped a mob guys daughter, now in the vocal contract there was nothing of suffering, but Richard made sure this guys did. First, Richard parked his van in the marks work parking lot and popped his tire. When the mark found it, of course he was aggravated, but jacked his car up and proceeded to fix it, he didn't get to far before Richard had picked him up, ducked taped his mouth, feet, and hands and then threw him into the back of his van and left with no witnesses. Richard soon arrived at a beach area and parked the van on the sand. He then proceeded out of the van and opened the back door, be fore the mark stood a very large 6' 5" man at about 300lbs. with malice as a grin. Richard grabbed hold on the mark and took a knife to his clothes leaving him now naked, he then grabbed a nice grip on the man's testicles and ripped the clean off, putting them in a bag he then chopped off the marks penis with a buck knife "you won't be needing this anymore, my friend" Richard said and he then put his penis in the same bag. Richard then began to cut piece's of the mark's flesh off and putting them in a different bag, after this activity he poured salt all over the mark's body by now the mark was nearly screaming in agony. Richard picked up the body and threw it into the water for the sharks to eat him, and of course by doing that he displaced the body. The best part is on Richard's way home he began to eat his favorite sandwich and listen to classical music, like Nothing ever happened."
"I just finished reading this book - very dark and really didn't leave me with the warm & fuzzies (not that it's intended to), but definitely a good read. What makes it even more scary is that it's based on a true story. The main character is a complete and total sociopath, but the story itself and how he was able to get away with functioning in normal society and being a mafia contract killer is absolutely fascinating."
"This book was very fascinating. It tells the sotry of a mafia-hired hit man who felt nothing for his voctims which made him an excellent candidate for hire. His tales of gruesome murders like feeding people that are still alive to rats and capturing the event on camera for the person whoo hired him for proof keep the reader intrigued the whole way though. I have also watched the "Ice Man Interviews" which are obviously just interviews with him after being incarcerated and he is very unemotional which makes it pretty interesting, sick but interesting."
