"This book was told in different points of views of Sara and Toby. The chapters would switch off to the other character of either one of them and that was one of the reasons why I liked this book. I also really enjoyed this book because it was very realistic to the lives of teenagers in high school. This book was about how the two characters got together and everything else inbetween. I really liked how I was able to relate to some of these situations that the author includes in the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in realistic fiction and likes to read about young love. I think that if I were to reread this book, I would still enjoy it all the same because it was cute and funny all in one."
"I really enjoyed reading this book. I originally wanted to read this during the summer as I saw it on the shelves in Barnes & Noble, but forgot to go check it out at the library. I visited the library and I was glad I found this book. It caught my attention because I am into romance and from the blurb, I knew it would revolve around that subject. Anyways, from reading the blurb, I thought the whole story would be very cliche, obvious and boring at times, but I was wrong. The book seems to be very realistic with the situations and the timing. It is very real and I think many people our age (high school students) can relate to this. I think both girls and guys would enjoy this because it switches back and forth from the boy's pov to the girl's pov; they both are the main characters of the book. It was very interesting to see the moments from two different perspectives and I finished this book in 2 days. I was surprised and in my opinion, it was a page turner & I really enjoyed reading this."
"As her senior year is about to begin, Sara makes two goals for herself: one, to get into NYU, and two, to find a Real relationship. She thinks this second goal can be achieved with Dave, the cute, popular boy who seemed to like her at the end of last year but now hasn't called since, and so she's elated when he actually does call right before school starts. Meanwhile, Tobey is just hoping that senior year passes quickly and that people stop asking him where he's going to college, since he has no plans to do so--and that maybe Sara will finally see that Dave isn't good enough for her and will go out with him instead. Tobey's right, of course--Dave isn't good enough--but a slacker like Tobey isn't really in ambitious, overachieving-Sara's league, either.
Told in alternating chapters, Sara's and Tobey's stories move predictably, if endearingly, along. There are few surprises about their budding relationship, but surprises aren't the point of this novel--this is a sweet coming-of-age romance of two equally-awkward and relatively inexperienced teenagers. I liked these characters and wish them the best in their future lives."
"*****KR A funny, sweet teen romance about what it means to find your soulmate. Sarah and Toby seem like they have nothing in common, but it turns out they are meant for each other.
When It Happens is the best romance book I have ever read. You will be cheering on Sarah and Toby all the way through the book. It's senior year. Sarah is a brain who is desperate to get away from the small town she's grown up in, and Toby is a music obsessed slacker with a major crush on Sarah. He decides this is the year he will make Sarah fall in love with him, but she is more interested in Dave, a handsome and popular jock. However, once she gets to know Toby and finds out how much they have in common, she begins to rethink things. This year, Sarah and Toby will not only discover each other, but also find themselves along the way."
