"Book kept my attention, though I wish that it had delivered more in regard to the differences between the faiths and why, as is the intent of the book, Christianity in this instance, came out the winner. Did initiate a good discussion at the dinner table one night, though."
"I really enjoyed this story that combined faith and codes in the setting of a reality TV show. The concept of having different contestants each advocate for their religion was intriguing."
"Not a usual Randy Singer book, but it was okay. It's about a reality show set on an island. The "contestants" must represent and defend their religion. A dying rich man wants to know which on is true before he dies. While that is going on, there is a plot that puts the contestant's lives at risk. Because their internet access is being monitored, Judge Oliver Finney, who is defending Christianity, sends coded messages to his assistant, Nikki, who must solve the mystery before it's too late. A crypto-geek named, of all things, Wellington Farnsworth, helps Nikki to solve the clues. In the process of the book, you learn alot about codes and cyphers, although some of it was over my head. There were some that I knew since I was a little girl, passing notes in class. Every girl knows how to write out the alphabet from A to M, then, to go backwards from under the M, with N back to Z, so that A=Z and B=Y. With that you can write a simple coded message that any kid can decipher. It's called the atbash cypher and is the simplest code. I don't know if boys do that sort of thing. You can also direct someone to a particular book and set page numbers, and then, very lightly (in pencil, so it can be erased), you place a dot under the letters to spell out words in plain text, or coded to correspond to the atbash cypher. We also used that code. We were spies in the making. The other codes they used in the book were alot more complicated, though. The underlying story wasn't as good as most of Singer's other books, though."
